The International Monetary Fund is comprised of one hundred and eighty seven member countries and was established to foster financial stability and worldwide monetary cooperation, sustain economic growth and facilitate international trade. The IMF also aims to reduce poverty and promote high employment worldwide.

The International Monetary Fund came into existence in 1945 with the goal to stabilize exchange rates and the economic system. The IMF lends to countries in financial difficulties and aims to provide support and assistance to help members improve economic their management. All members of the International Monetary Fund are also members of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

International Monetary Fund is housed in a Washington DC office complex on 700 19th Street.

The World Bank Group (WBG)

The World Bank Group was established in 1944 and its mission was to facilitate reconstruction of an international banking system for the post-war world. Today the Worlds Banks main goals are:

To provide solutions to the challenges faces by post-conflict countries
To address global and regional issues including trade, climate change and infectious diseases
To reduce poverty and promote sustainable growth in the world's poorest countries
To develop customised services and solutions for middle income countries
To research and support development
To provide vital support to the developing countries of the world

Including the head office in Washington DC, there are one hundred offices of the World Bank worldwide.
