Emergency Medical Organisations

Emergency Medical OrganisationsThere aren't many countries in the developed world where medical and health organisations provide essential support to the emergency services, but the UK is fortunate enough to be one of them. Charities like St. John's Ambulance and the Red Cross provide vital support to our emergency services. Many of these charities can be found at major events, such as football matches, music festivals, and other public gatherings where large groups of people can be found.

Emergency medical and health organisations are made of individuals who are trained in basic or advanced first aid. These people will be able to carry out CPR, and provide first-at-the-scene assistance for other incidents like strokes, heart attacks, drowning, burns, wounds, and broken limbs. The majority will also know how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), reducing the number of people who die at the scene of an incident such as a cardiac arrest. These charities are primarily operated by volunteers, and act as a vital lifeline for the public and emergency services alike. Some branches of St. John's have even grown to become an additional ambulance service that is dispatched to minor cases in order to support the British ambulance service in its work.
