The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
The World Tourism Organization was established in 1974 as a specialised agency of the United Nations and its membership includes one hundred and fifty five countries. UNWTO represents public sector tourism bodies and is a member of the United Nations Development Group.
The World Tourism Organization is the leading international organization in the tourism field and plays a central role in:
- Sustainable and universally accessible tourism
- Promoting global tourism policies
- Encouraging the implementation of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism
- Maximising social, cultural and economic effects of tourism
The four official languages of The World Tourism Organization are Spanish, English, Arabic and Russian.
