1System-wide Coherence The Outcome of the 2005 World Summit contains specific references to Member States’ expectations for significant improvements in the UN system’s coherence at both the policy and operational levels to which a clear and visible response is required. It invited the UN Secretary-General to launch work to further strengthen the management and coordination of United Nations operational activities, including proposals for more tightly managed entities in the field of development, humanitarian assistance and the environment. |
2Pursuant to this request, the Secretary-General set up a Panel to carry out a new study on system-wide coherence in these areas, tasking it to develop concrete and comprehensive analysis and recommendations. The HLCP website has been set up to provide a forum for organizations of the UN system to share background papers and hold virtual discussions on relevant topics of their choice. This will serve both as input to the Panel’s work and as a reflection to the system from its ex-officio representatives on the Panel. Login and join the discussion. |
